2004 Recipient

Jeanne Goddard Memorial Award

The Jeannie Goddard Memorial Award was established in 2003 to recognize those women who have supported and encouraged the game of golf in Utah.  At the 2004 USWGA Fall meeting, Linda Olsen was chosen as the 2004 Jeannie Goddard Memorial Award recipient.

Linda’s sister, LaRae, introduced her to golf in the early 70s.  The golf bug bit her and as the children grew she took them and her husband golfing.   It was the beginning of a life long love for the whole family.  Her greatest joy is still sharing a game with her sons, and now adding the grandkids in the mix.

In the early 80’s because of school and work restraints, Linda gathered a few friends and organized the Bountiful Ladies Night League.  Within a few years they had over a hundred members from all over the valley golfing with the ladies of the evening.  The league is still active at Bountiful ridge.

In the late 90’s Linda was elected to the USWGA Board as Vice President.  She served as VP for one year and the following two years as President.  In 1999 Linda was asked to join the UGA Board and has served as secretary for three years and is currently serving as handicap chair.  She also serves on the USGA Regional Affairs Committee, the First Tee Board and is the UGA liaison to the USWGA Board.

Golf has even infiltrated Linda’s work world.  The past four years she has been a partner in a company called “Country Club of the World”.  Their golf club is composed of over 900 members from around the world.  The company sets up 6 to 12 golf tournaments per year located all over the world.  Some of their venues have included: Italy, France, Spain, New Zealand, Pebble Beach, Pinehurst, Whistler, Pala Mesa, Florida, Vancouver, Niagara Falls, and many others.  For the non-golfing spouses they arrange tours to the sites of interest in the area.  Check out their web site at http://www.ccwtours.com/ for this year’s exciting venues.

As you can see, Linda is very deserving of the Jeannie Goddard Memorial Award.

Congratulations, Linda!
