Instructions
for Running a USWGA
Sanctioned Event
A USWGA State Sanctioned Tournament is a tournament that follows the
USWGA Standing Rules, Article I – State Sanctioned Tournaments.
A USWGA State Sanctioned Tournament receives money from the USWGA to aid
in running the tournament. This amount is determined by the USWGA Board
and is based on funds available for the year. The amount that will be
given to each state sanctioned tournament chair for 2005 is $3 per valid
entrant. In order to receive the $3 per participant, it is the responsibility
of the tournament chair to make sure all tournament players are paid USWGA
members.
Listed are steps to follow to run a USWGA state sanctioned tournament:
1. You can print a copy of Standing Rule, Article I – State Sanctioned
Tournaments from this website. Everyone involved in running a state sanctioned
tournament must follow the guidelines in this document. If you have any
questions concerning Standing Rule, Article I, please contact one of the
USWGA Board members for clarification.
2. Click here to see the “Sanctioned
Tournament Checklist” that identifies tasks to be done in running
your tournament.
3. At least one week before your tournament, contact the USWGA Treasurer.
The Treasurer will work with you in making sure all players are current
USWGA members. If there are players who are not current members, it is
your responsibility to collect their membership dues and having them fill
out the appropriate information on the “Tournament Financial Results
& Dues Remittance Form”. Click here
to see the “Tournament Financial Results & Dues Remittance Form”.
If all dues are not collected, funds may be withheld at the discretion
of the USWGA Board.
The 2008 USWGA Treasurer is:
Dorothy Beasley
3459 Celebration Drive
Salt Lake City, UT 84128
(801) 250-8565
beasleymix@gmail.com
There are several things you must do after the tournament has been played.
4. All players’ scores must be posted, whatever the type of tournament,
except where individual hole scores are a combined result of both players,
ie. Scramble, Chapman, etc. Chairs must post scores on the UGA web site
as a Tournament score or forward the completed posting sheet(s) to the
UGA Office, 9125 South 150 West, Suite B, Sandy, Utah 84070, Phone (801)
563-0400 .
5. Send scorecards and tournament results to the USWGA Handicap Chair.
The Handicap Chair’s preference would be to receive the tournament
results by email in electronic format. Click here
for Individual Tournament electronic form; click here
for Two Person Tournament form or click here
for Four Person Tournament form to email. However, if this is not possible,
then fill out the “Tournament Results Form” enclosed in the
President's packet. You can contact the Handicap Chair if you have any
questions.
The 2008 USWGA Handicap Chair is:
Sandy Beveridge
1553 East Logan Avenue
SLC, UT 84105

6. File a financial report with the USWGA Treasurer. This is the form
mentioned in (3) above.
7. By the Fall Meeting of each year, or as soon as possible thereafter,
you must fill out the attached document titled “2006 Tournament
Information Sheet”. Click here for
the “2006 Tournament Information Sheet”. It is imperative
that we receive this information as soon after the Fall Meeting as possible
so the Board can put together the Spring Newsletter that lists all tournaments
for the following year. In order to make the PGA Book of Golf, all tournament
information must be submitted to them by the first of December.
If you need help with the forms or using the web, you can contact the
